The mine water cleaning plant was the realisation of an environmental protection project for clean water. MAX FRANK supplied sealing technology products.
A modern treatment plant is being built on an area of around 1.2 hectares at the Profen open pit. The total capacity of the four treatment lines is approx. 10,000 cubic meters of water. The plant measures 85 by 85 meters and with the company building is around eleven meters high. Up to 120 cubic meters of water per minute can be treated at Profen. The result is clear, clean water.
After treatment, the water is passed through a ditch system into the White Elster. Part of the water will be used to stabilize the water supply and to flood and re-cultivate the Schwerzauer See.
A redundant joint seal according to the multi-barrier principle for concrete working joints was favoured for the project. This was to involve the design of several independent systems. All MAX FRANK sealing technology products are fully inter-compatible. The specialist planner decided to use the Fradiflex® polymer-coated metal water stop as the primary sealing and finished the seal with a Cresco® expanding waterstop.
