Allmendtunnel

Thun, Switzerland

The Allmend Tunnel has already been in operation for 46 years and showed various structural damages. With the renovation of the motorway section Thun-Nord - Thun-Süd, the tunnel will also be renovated.

The Thun Allmend Tunnel will be comprehensively refurbished as part of the A6 complete renovation of Rubingen-Thun-Spiez because various structural damages on the tunnel appeared.

The unfavorable loads transferred from the exisitng tank manoeuvre area on the tunnel has been taken into account during the preparatory work for the renovation. The exisitng tank manoeuvre area on the Allmend remains intact during the rehabilitation of the Allmend tunnel and crosses the traffic on bridges.

In order to protect the tunnel, a load-free layer had to be created to prevent deflections due to dynamic traffic loads (heavy vehicles). After the concreting, the Egcovoid® voidformer achieves this planned load release and provides permanent protection of the existing structures beneath.
